I would love to find out who all my ancestors are.
Nancy,
How can I help? Let’s start with your parents, grandparents, and location. The internet is the first place to look for clues. Let me know what you find. Thanks for your interest,
Larry
I am the grandaughter of a man named Ray Bender who died before I was born, 1975. He met my grandmother in Buffalo, New York, and worked in a steel plant. My mother’s name is Debra Robinson. My grandmother is Susie Robinson. I have been told that my grandfather’s family was in Pittsburgh, PA. He had a brother named “Cleo.” Please let me know If you can help me find more about my grandfather.
Hi Andrea,
I don’t recognize any of your names, but perhaps one of my readers will. My Wife’s maternal Bender relatives were all Amish-Mennonites from southern Somerset County, PA, and Garrett Co., MD. Does that fit your ancestors? See the Bender Family Tree for associated families also. Have you try Googling the various names and dates? Best wishes in your search.
Larry
My heraldry database has 8 arms with the surname Bender from Riestap’s Armorial General:

Hello John,
Your internet reference is very interesting. Thanks for sharing. I’m certain our humble Benders didn’t have much time for such royal musings, but now our proud readers know that they have seven others from which to choose. The only reason I include the COAs and family mottos on our trees is to show connections of names to wider communities in the world. My hope is that everyone will read the Introductions and other articles to get the full context of each family’s experience. Again, thanks for sharing,
Larry
No problem I’m glad you liked it. I will add more arms for the name IF I can source more.
I am looking for a copy of the 1985 Daniel Bender Family History book. Do you know where I could find one? Daniel Bender was a distant relative to my mother in law.
LaTasha,
I think I’ve seen the book displayed at a genealogy meeting in Grantsville. Unfortunately, such treasures are usually out of print and not always available to the general public. I’ll ask about it at the September gathering and keep my eyes open at the local libraries and history centers. Meanwhile, try searching Amazon or Google the title. I imagine it’s available digitally: http://www.worldcat.org/title/daniel-bender-family-history/oclc/13734196 . Thanks for your interest, and please let me know what you find.

Hi Wendy,
Your Benders certainly lived in the same area of Germany as ours, although your research from Hesse comes later. Many of your names seem to match. I believe that small Bender community had some ties to the Brennemans. Have you found that name? Our Marie Bender married Daniel Brenenman and had settled in New Germany, Western Maryland, by the end of the 18th century. Hopefully, some of our readers can help, but there’s much on the internet and in genealogical periodicals for starters. We’ll just call you “Cousin” for now!
Regards,
Larry
Any chance your tree contains a
George Marcus Bender 1904-1959/1960 , m
Josephine M Wahl d. 1986
George J Bender 30 apr 1875 – 8 Nov 1917 . m
Elizabeth Miller
And his father might be a John Bender
Rayann, I don’t recognize these names as our family came much earlier. Where did they reside? Perhaps a reader will be more helpful. We’ll let you know if we get a response.
